As promised… part two of Valerie and Alex’s romantic engagement session!

Valerie & Alex came all the way from Calgary for their engagement session.
After a make-up trial, a car accident, a hair trial, and questionable weather (in that order!), we weren’t sure whether or not this session would happen!
We decided to take the risk, extreme wind and all, and I am SO HAPPY that we did. I love wind for photo sessions – it just adds an extra element of movement to the photos that I love and think is so beautiful.
I will be posting Val and Alex’s engagement session in two parts because there are so many amazing photos. I couldn’t narrow it down, so you lucky folks get to feast your eyes on this beautiful (and sexy… just wait until you see part 2!) couple twice before their 2016 wedding.

I told Danika & Chase that we were going to go on a “little hike” to get to their location. I wasn’t lying. I THOUGHT it was a little hike! (Those mountains look a lot smaller from afar!). Well, we certainly got our daily exercise in during this session.
Climbing to the top of this mountain during golden hour was worth it for the light, the views, the breeze. Oh the breeeeeze….
Enjoy these sunkissed photos and stay tuned for previews from Danika and Chase’s August Hotel Eldorado wedding!
Christie and Rob flew in from Calgary for their engagement session. I knew I HAD to have a special location for them. Somewhere that shows what the Okanagan has to offer and something unique to them. I wanted to take them to a place I hadn’t taken anyone else.
I think they were a little worried when I said “Just follow me. I am going to pull over along the side of the highway and that is where the first location will be!”. Well, I know some pretty light when I see it. I neeeeeeded to photograph in that light and I am so glad they trusted me (or at least pretended to)!
After their desert mountain engagement session, we moved on to the next location- a beautiful orchard and vineyard. Aside from the lake, I think we covered most of the Okanagan’s great qualities all in one session!
Enjoy these photos and check back for Christie and Rob’s September Hotel Eldorado wedding!
You know those women who just glow when they are pregnant? The ones who are beautiful with their perfect bellies and who just ooze pregnancy perfection. Meet Caity. That woman is her. Her fiance, Jayden is equally as wonderful. A gentleman who takes good care of his girl, showering her with affection. These two are expecting a sweet little girl nearly any time now – Caity’s blush dress, a perfect fit for the session.
There’s a lot going on in the lives of these two and it’s only the beginning!
You’ll see their faces grace the pages of my blog again in July – they’re getting married!
Until then, enjoy these beautiful portraits!
I’m going to start this post off by saying that I am going to be posting lots of photos in the upcoming weeks. I am very, very, behind in blogging, and am hoping to catch up over the next couple months.
I honestly didn’t know where to start in my blogging. This session was taken in the summer, mid-wedding season, spontaneously. Carly and Josh are also amazing wedding photographers (you can find their work here), so finding time in the middle of wedding season for our own personal sessions can prove to be quite difficult.
I felt like Carly & Josh’s wedding anniversary session was a good place to start. They are away in California spending some much needed quality time with family, and well…. I miss them. So, this is where I am starting! We stumbled upon this location (literally) and couldn’t believe how magical it was. It’s a location I could visit over and over again. Also- near this location is a top secret beach ISLAND. I’m not joking. It’s a beach. That is an island. Am I the only one who is blown away by that?!
This was the second anniversary session that I have photographed for Carly and Josh (last year’s session is here), and I have a feeling that this is going to become a yearly tradition, and I’m OK with that! The lovely Jenny McKinney did Carly’s make-up for both sessions. I love me some Jenny McKinney! (You can find her stunning work here).
ps: Come home soon, guys! Not that I am counting the days or anything….
